Do people really need organic clothes? Can’t the pesticides in regular clothes just be washed out?
Yes, but there is still the issue of the way cotton is grown.
The pesticides as well as the dyes used on regular cotton hurt the environment.
Go green and live green with the green organic store.

i live in northwest NJ and we don’t have whole foods. shoprite by me has a pretty good selection of organic food and body products but its expensive. anyone know places where i can go food shopping for the essentials? i live close to the Lehigh valley PA area as well if that helps. i looked online for farmers markets and will probably go to them but they may not necessarily be organic items which is important to me. i don’t want to get cancer from pesticides and everything else in our food! ![]()
I have to tell you a trade secret allot of these ORGANIC shops just get regular produce and slap a sticker on it and raise the price. I work in a warehouse and we ship to 2 organic markets here and I tell you they buy regular produce all the time!! The only way to be truly sure of organic is to grow yourself that way you know what went into it.
I really like the idea of organic clothes. I hate thinking about my body absorbing pesticides through fabric that has been sprayed. Definitely a plus to not have my clothes made by slave labor as well. Feels better on the conscience. Been looking through a lot of websites lately. Best I’ve come up with so far is http://www.theokobox.com/ . Anybody else have one they’d like to share?
I think they’re a great idea, however they are still too hard to find and are quite expensive. There are a lot of people out there that would love to be able to buy organic clothing however they can’t afford it. And second of all, people working in slave labor can’t get any other job rather than working like this. Sure they barely get paid and aren’t treated well but its either they get the job or they don’t get any job at all. If they get the job, they might get some money as to keep alive. If they don’t get any job at all, then they’d be more likely to starve.
I am a gardener the grows a wide variety of plants and vegetables. Where is a good department or any store that sells 100% organic plant seeds from tomatos to zucchinis
Wal mart,Home depot, and lowes all now has an organic seed display usually right by the regular seed selections
I need to know what people think of my ideal but I dont want crap, rash answers.
I am a manager of a shelter, well ex manager due to health reasons, but am still very much into rescue and rehabilitation. I want to start my own self-sustaining organic farm. I have an opportunity to buy some land and want to have animals on it that are well treated, and loved, care for and respected, but also farm animals that will give me meat, milk, cheese, eggs and what they are made for. I was going to take in rescued farm animals, rehabilitate and then blended into the farm. In my opinion I love all animals, but I do understand what certian animals are for. I am not a vegitarian, and I eat meat.
I want the animals comfortable, fed, loved and respected but I want to also feed my family and others with the gifts they give me.
Question is, how would I be viewed? Is it worth the controversy? Is it worth the uproar if there are PETA people or super softies around me?
The farm is large, the animals have free roam, they will be fed, cared for, and not shot up with a million hormones, antibiotics or what have ya. They will not be over bred, over used or mis used. They will live there life out if they arent for meat, and wont worry about being sold.
ah, but if you are a christian then you would believe that animals were made for us to eat and used as we see fit. If you believe in evolution you would know humans are omnivores and hunters and we are designed to eat meat. So basically the first poster is telling me that more than half the world is unethical for eating meat… wow ok intresting point.
No offense taken Rottencherrie I am here to see what everyone thinks and debate it. I can see your point of view on the meat. Since you are a vegan that is understandable. I am not and most of my friends and family are not either. I would want to eat meat. I was raised on a working farm as a kid and am not terribly upset with butchering animals that I care for, if I know how its done and its done humanely. I feel with seeing alot of rescued farm animals, they dont have anyplace to go. I working farm doesnt want them cause often times they are ruined for production that would bring a profit. I would want to incorperate them to give them back there usefulness to my family since they wouldnt be used to make profit. Only to sustain us and some family and friends. Horses are welcome, I already have 3 and one is not rideable, he is a rescue that is permenantly lame. That does not stop him from being gorgeous and beautiful to see in the pasture. I already have most of my animals.
but they are not from rescue. Well one horse and a pygmy goat and some chickens but they are not producing animals anyway. I have my cows, goats, sheep, and fowl from my parents as soon as I get my land. I want to suppliment and give rescued farm animals homes eventually when they need them on my farm, but I do intend they produce somewhat for me and be really a part of the farm. My fiance has a sucessfuly job, money is not needed, so the organic farm would not be a profit farm but more of a hobby farm. He is from India, he respects all the animals and knows what I will do with them, he sees no problem with it and even will be thrilled to have them and thrilled to see me happy with the thought of having this farm up and running. I just feel I need some points of view on it. I wouldnt slaughter elderly animals, and only would when meat was needed. I am familar with animal husbandry with having been raised on a farm so I am not new on this.
I think that’s a wonderful idea! That’s very close to my own dream.
